If you happen to be anywhere near Tulsa, OK, in the next month or two, the Alan Feltus / Lani Irwin show at University of Tulsa’s Alexandre Hogue Gallery is definitely worth a visit.
Also, (this not new news) the Philbrook Museum’s showing Edward Wales Root’s collection of early American modernism. This show’s interesting because not every painter in it wound up being as famous as Rothko, Pollock, de Kooning. Works by Theodoros Stamos, Lee Gatch, Mark Tobey, Bradley Walker Tomlin. Also, some quite nice Charles Burchfields. That show comes down on Nov. 29th.
