Hmmmm….the blog is still getting several hundred hits a day, but the comment section is pretty dry. So here’s a little parlour game, maybe that’ll get some people to chime in again. One of my little ideas of what would make MW Capacity successful is that I’d love to learn that some intrepid curator uses this blog to find artists whose work would look good together in a big themed exhibit. I personally think that paintings by Nick Pena and Lisa Sanditz would be a nice pairing; there are lots of group shows of this kind of work in galleries lately. I’m curious what others think. Are there any groupings of 2-3 or more artists we’ve posted that would make an amazing group show?
You know, Sam, that combo is kind of interesting to me for another reason. When we started MWC, I kind of wondered if we would end up being about some kind of Regionalism in the 21st Century. But it seems like if anything, we’ve been another lshovel-full of dirt on the grave. The one place where Regionalism seems to be at all alive and kicking is that 2nd generation of Chicago imagists. And, even that is not a dominant style. And one of its chief practioners, Andrew Winship, is based out of Indy now anyway.
