The premise: We think that there are as many exciting and original artists in the Midwest, the Southwest, the Deep South and the High Plains as there are on any coast, metropolitan area, or anywhere—there’s just a little more elbow room between us out here.  And so our next thought: what if we use this Internet as a way to build up a little more feeling of community?

You can help us believe in the excitement.  The comment section is open.  Discussion is encouraged!  You don’t have to write a dissertation.  You don’t have to like everything or agree all the time.  The idea is that some dialogue–even, or especially, some respectful disagreement–makes us all better off.

MW Capacity is a blog. It is (mostly) about contemporary painters who are living/working/showing in the midwest. Chris Lowrance and Sam King edit it. Our intention is for this blog to serve as a helpful resource for people who like paintings and also use the internet.
