I’m having a funny reaction. Different than the image above, the Kemper has installed Split in a gallery with dark blue carpet. I’m out as to whether the art-meets-carpet installation upsets or offsets.
The dark blue (almost grayish in color) carpet takes away from the exhibit. It was really disappointing to me because I am a massive fan of Polly’s work and to see it adulterated with the tacky blue carpet was shocking. Also, there is a silver drain in the middle of the room, about 3 inches in diameter, which is distracting. The floor takes lots away from the viewing experience. I can’t imagine why the Kemper wouldn’t take it up, they purchased Split and I imagine will keep it there. Very sad.
These look amazing. I want to see in person!
I second that. Hopefully I can make the two hour trek to see them by August!!!
